I am also thinking about Intel Duo core. HD above 80G, 1024Mb memory. Thanks!|||If the money is not an important factor for that and also you don't need a number one monitor (LCD) go ahead with an IBM Think Pad T Series. It's the perfect choice.
If the LCD is an important factor get a one that has a technology in LCD (like as Toshiba and SONY).
Also the following specifications are highly recommended in your laptop:
HDD: (No matter what's the size but) at least 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM
LCD: 15" (Wide is also a good choice but the wide LCDs has less life than a normal LCD and also cheaper in producing)
Bluetooth: Up to you if you have such devices.
Mouse: TouchPad and TrackPoint both are recommended.
Disk Drive: Floppy is dead long time ago as you know. But DVD-RAM is not a perfect choice if you don't use. So get a Combo drive (CD-RW, DVD-ROM)
WLAN: If you don't use no need to take a Centrino.
CPU: 533Mhz FSB is a good choice, much better than 400Mhz FSB.
RAM: at least 1 GB. DDR2 is recommended.
GPU: nVidia, ATI both are good.|||Dell has very good laptops.|||Dell Inspiron 9400, select the optional 256MB Radeon X1400 card.
