Where can i get a 128mb video card with support for pixel shader 2.0, for Spore?

thats it but i need it fast and provide a store name if possible or the name of the actually product and company or awebsite|||thats a fairly small video card, go to you're local pawn shop or electronics store (i.e: futurshop) and they'll definatly have them. i suggest you buy something larger than a 128, such as a 256 or so, as 128 is just a minimum requirement. pretty much all video cards above 128 have pixel shader 2.0. this will probably set you back around 60-80 dollars.|||Well theres 3 different card slots. Which one do you have? Here's some possible answers.

PCI-Express: I'd reccomend a NvidiA GeForce 8800. It's 512 MB, but it's only about 100 dollars. You can find this at Best Buy, Circuit City or a local computer store.

AGP: I'd reccomend a ATI Radeon 5200 (I think thats it) I believe its 128 MB, and only around 80 dollars.

PCI: The lowly PCI. The best you would find is a Nvidia GeForce FX 5400. It's 128 MB, and has Pixel Shader support.

You can find all of those at Best Buy, Circuit City, or any computer store. |||NVIDIA and Ati make cards that you need.

Stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, amazon.com and newegg.com sell them.

Can I share some RAM memory with my onboard video card?

Hi! I have a HP Pavilion with internal video card of 64Mb and I also have 1Gb RAM, which I don't use all of it... As I now decided to get some games, I can't make them work because the minimum is 128Mb video card... Can I "transfer" some Mb? How do I do it?|||If your BIOS allows it, you can allocate more shared memory to your video card. Since not all motherboards are the same, some may allow you to share 128MB and some may only allow up to 64MB or less. Check your motherboard manual to see where this setting is located in your BIOS as it varies depending on the manufacturer of your board. Usually it's under something like "Advanced Chipset Settings" etc.

That said, if you intend to play games, it is better to install a dedicated graphics card. Even a cheap video card will help in that you won't be taking away from your system memory at worst, and at best you'll be adding a decent graphics processor so that it won't run slow. Most onboard video, even with 128MB of video RAM shared, will not run games well and there are some 3D features they simply can't handle. Chances are if it's asking for 128MB video RAM, then you will want more than 896 MB of system RAM anyways.

Additional note: I am not the thumbs downer, BTW. The above suggestion to get a new video card if you can is a good one.|||Sorry, no can do. To run those games, you'll need to upgrade your video card to one with more RAM of its own. And rather than stopping at 128 MB, you should go ahead and get a video card with 256 MB (or even 512, if you can afford it and there's one compatible with your computer) to make it less likely you'll find yourself in the same situation in the future.

Thumbs-downer: if you disagree, then let's hear YOUR input!

EDIT - I like anonfuture's answer better than mine because he's giving you more options. That said, though, I still think your best option is to upgrade to a video card with its own onboard RAM.

Upgrade system ram or video card?

I have an Athlon 64 3200 processor, Radeon 9600 128mb video card, and 512 ram. I was wondering if it's worth upgrading my video card to a Gforce 7600gs 256mb card or would I need the ram to back it up?

I'm mostly using it for gaming and I was wondering if it would let me up the graphics on BF2, right now I have to run at pretty much the lowest settings and I would like to be able to up the resolution from 800x600.

Would the video card do this for me or do I need the ram to back it up, I'm asking because I'm getting a pretty good price on this card.|||Go for the additional RAM, You will get the biggest bang for the buck. The upgraded video card will help with some games but not all. Graphics's intensive games will want both.|||both ,but you will probally have to upgrade the power supply also ,as most video cards now take 300 watts of power just to run them|||First choice would be upgrading both, but i'd start with the videocard.

Then, if it doesn't help (enough), add the memory.

If that doesn't help either, you probably run unneeded or just too many backgroundservices.

Disable unneeded services:

http://www.beemerworld.com/tips/services…|||get 1 GB ram|||I would suggest you go ahead and upgrade to the Gforce, and I would recomend you upgrade the ram also, or you would lose a lot of ram just on the video card, and that video card should be able to a lot higher screen resolutions.|||i would go for RAM at the moment if your big on gaming 512 just is not going to do it for you. The ram will also make your computer do everything else a bit faster too. I went from 512 to 1.5gb and i could really tell a difference in speed on all the programs i ran ... later on though you will need to upgrade you video card some of the newest games require a bunch of video memory|||Get a GT. Dell Inspiron 8600. Is it worth it to upgrade the 32mb video card to a 128mb card? Which should I get?

I love my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop that I've had for almost 7 years now. It still runs like a champ. Super quiet, fast, and still gets 8+ hours on a fresh set of batteries (this model allows you to swap out the DVD drive with a second battery). Anyways, I have been thinking of upgrading my video card. Currently I have the standard 32mb Geforce card and am aware of an ATI 128mb card and another Geforce 128mb card. Specifically the " ATI 128MB Video Card Radeon 9600 Series " and the " 128MB Video Card GeForce FX Go5650 ". I'm wondering if the 100 bucks will be worth the upgrade. My goal is to be able to watch full screen streaming video at 480p without it being choppy--and to be able to watch it on an external monitor. My other specs include a 1.5ghz Pentium M and 2gb Ram. Also, if anyone on this thread has any upgrade ideas for an Inspiron 8600 I'd love to hear them.|||you cannot upgrade the video card

laptops are built with the video card soldered to the motherboard.

only very high end laptops like alienware can have the video card removed, but there is no selection, you can only replace it with whatever else alienware offers because its so proprietary.

besides, your laptop is so old that even if your laptop did have the ability to swap video cards, you would NEVER find a compatible one because dell makes them in such limited quantity.

basically, no, you cannot upgrade. you also have a pentium M cpu. your computer is OLD, thats just a fact. if your happy, then enjoy it. if your not, well, your going to need a new laptop soon, thats for sure

Can my video card mx 4000 128mb can run well with nba live 2007?

my specs

winxp, p4 2.8 , 512 ram, 128mb video card,

do i have to add another 512 ram so it will run faster or i should change the video card|||I would change them both, the video card is really old and you could use the memory. I have not looked at the requirements for the game, I just know that's not a real good card

Would it make a big difference if i upgrade to a 256mb video card?

i have a nVidia geForce 4 MX440 128mb video card (PCI). if i get a 256mb card, would i see any increase in the video quality of my games?|||If you just upgraded to a card with the same chipset, but more memory, you would see some improvement, but it wouldn't be a huge improvement. If you upgraded to something like a Geforce 7600GT with 256 megs of memory or even 128 megs, you would see a remarkable difference. That is to say, your GPU is limiting your performance more than your graphics memory.|||Hi. Only if your games are now bumping up against the 128MB performance limit.|||Well look, the size doesnt mean anything if its not a true upgrade. Meaning, if I have a nvidia 6800 with 256 vs the same in 512, then there wouldnt be that big of difference. There is alot to think about before buying a card. Dont just go by memory size. Memory mainly helps in higher resolutions.

Anyways check out the link I put below for video card comparison!|||Yeah... just how fast it renders 3d images.|||It all depends if you plan on staying with XP or Vista, and what kind of games you are planning to play. If you are going to Vista, it would be minimal and you would need a nice CPU with at least 1 gig ram. If you plan on staying with XP for a while and dont mind waiting, you should just stick with your card for just a lil while longer. So Im thinking no.

i have no idea how to install this, like drivers, chipsets, etc. can anyone tell me how to do this, really overwhelmed here.|||That's an old card, and probably AGP (or possibly PCI)

Just insert it into the AGP slot on your motherboard. If there are any connectors, plug them in. When you start up, you'll have to download the driver from the ATI/AMD site

When a game specification ask for 128mb video card, what does that mean?

does that mean 128 of memory type? or 128 of memory interface? sorry for the noob question..

(' ' ,)|||Noob or not you asked it short, sweet and concise. We like that.

The number does refer to the the minimum amount of ram needed on the vid card to run the game.

Kinda related, some manufacturers will get kinda shady on the specs. Specifically, vid cards can have the ability to borrow some of the system to augment what it has. The shadiness I'm referring to is when the manufacturer uses a larger typeface, on the advertising and packaging, for the maximum amount of memory amount the card can BORROW, not what it has by itself, without the borrowing. Obviously, if your system ram is being borrowed like this, it will not work to it's full potential. The drag may or may not be noticeable, but it will keep your computer from running at its best.

Last thing. Game specifications are suggestions. You could go lower than their recommendations. You will also see why they put the bar where the did. So if you are a little shy on the specs, you'll probably be okay. OTOH, if your computer is only half as powerful, as the minimum required, go watch paint dry as that will happen at a much qwicker rate then the game will run.

Qwik qwestion, not so qwik answer. Hope that helps, ave|||As in there being 128mb of memory on the graphics card that will be used purely for graphics processing.|||Its asking for a video card that has 128mb of dedicated memory on it. Memory type doesn't apply|||It means your graphics card needs at least 128 megabytes of memory on it. To check and see for yourself how much memory your graphics card has, click on start, then click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and press enter. When a window pops up, press yes. Click on the "Display" tab on top, and where it says "aprrox. total memory", this is where it tells you how much memory your video card has.

PCI slot? Upgrading will only help so much. (thats if its a pci slot)|||If your motherboard has intergrated video, it "borrows" from the onboard RAM. But since your v-card has its own memory, it doesn't need to ask your system to share its memory. The bottom line is get as much memory, both RAM and on your video card, as your budget and motherboard can handle.|||This card should not be any problem. Hopefully, the EMachine power supply is sufficient. Check out how many watts that power supply is putting out by looking on the back of it. Compare with the power requirements of the card you want.

What is the best sff(small form factor) video card i can put in my xps 200?

I have been endlessly searching for a way to improve the gaming performance of my dell xps 200, which came standard with an ati x600 se 128mb video card, which simply isn't enough for games like oblivion. I've looked at an x1300 sff, which is mediocre, and i was wondering if anyone knows of a half-size video card with good performance. oh and it also needs to run on a 300w power supply.|||SFF are NOT gaming machines. Just goto www.tomshardware.com for benchmarks.

My system specs are these 1gb ram 128mb video card core2duo2.00ghz 160 gb harddisk will i be able to run vista

will i be able to run windows vista ultimate smoothly ,also tell me does vista support dual core processing .reccomend the version of vista which uses both the cores and tell me the difference between vista 32bit and vista 64bit|||All versions of Vista support dual-core processing.

For your computer, I'd recommend Vista home Premium

I'm sure you could run ultimate smoothly as well, but I just like home premium better for some reason.

On a fresh install, Vista will use around 400-512mb of RAM when fully booted up. So you will have about 512mb mb of RAM to run programs. Although Vista will run pretty fast on 1 gb RAM, I recommend 2 gb so you can run more programs without losing speed

Ignore the people saying you can't run it smoothly. I've run it smoothly on a dual-core 1.9GHz, 1 GB of RAM, and a integrated gpu with shared memory

Vista 64bit is designed for 64bit processors. (like yours)

Vista 32bit is designed for 32 bit processors, but a 64bit processor will run it fine. 64 bit Vista can utilize over 4 gbs of RAM and Vista 32bit can utilize about 3.5. I recommend you go with 32bit, since 64bit OS's can have problems running 32bit programs (most programs are 32bit)|||you will probably want to get more ram|||Yes it will run fine but it would be much better with an extra gig of RAM|||no is the simple answer. you need at least 2gb to get even the basic functions of vista running well and a 256mb graphics card. I have 4gb and 512mb graphics card and it runs well, 1gb and 128mb g card, no chance|||you will don't know why? But if you must you're going to be better of with 2 Gb|||I been using vista for a long time since the first RC version released to the public. So short answer yes it will run fine for you. I defiantly don't recommend vista ultimate if your only going to be doing basic web surfing, word documents, and gaming/media. I do very much recommend a additional gig of memory. Because while it will run fine on a clean install after you start installing programs it will start getting slower and slower and very quickly you will be unsatisfied with it.

People who trash vista are people who never used it for longer then a day (and if they did they don't know much about computers). And yes i do agree Linux is more efficient but the person wasn't asking which other OS to get so stay on track.

Steve explained the 64 bit vs 32 bit very well. Few things to add hardware only now is starting to support the 64 bit OS. It is still near impossible to find device driver software for the more obscure hardware you might get for a 64 bit OS. Even the more common known brand names of computer parts are starting to support downloads for these drivers. One other thing to take into account no software is currently programmed for 64 bit, unless its custom made so your really not gaining any performance. Also support for a 64 bit computer is a lot harder to get from you standard places you might go for computer help.|||Yes all looks OK, however you don't say what your graphics card is.

I know some of the Radeons do not support the AERO interface, for example on my spare PC I have a 128mb 9250 and that doesn't support AERO.

Anyway you've probably got Nvidia.

Good luck.

LUg.

PS.

Don't let anyone tell you that you need 4gb RAM.

I have Vista running sweet on the specs. below :

2.4ghz Pentium 4 CPU

256mb Geforce 6200 graphics card

1gb RAM

Good luck.

LUg.|||32 bit Vista uses 32 bits of the bus width. 64 bit Vista uses 64 bits of the bus width. Not just Vista, all the OSes do the same thing.

Until you have undeniable reasons, I'd recommend you to use the most basic variant of Vista. That should leave a bit more resources free for your applications to use. By running Vista, you intend to run some applications on it, not Vista as the last piece of software. So, smaller the OS, better for the applications.

It is normal for Windows users to run anti-spyware, antivirus and such, all the time. These applications will be happy if the underlying OS lets them use a bit more resources.

How much of a performace difference should I see from this new video card?

I currently have an integrated Intel GMA 950 128mb video card

I wanna get an EVGA Geforce GTS 250 1gb

What will the difference be in performance?|||Day and night difference

The GTS 250 is actually GeForce 9800GTX+, I have this card and its absolutely wonderful, only games that I cannot run full is Crysis and Far Cry 2. Crysis run at High, and Far Cry 2 tune 1 step down from max for certain setting. All other game such as FEAR 2, Unreal 3, Rainbow 6, runs amazingly

While the GMA is not for gaming at all. Its as fast as an asmahtic ants after a heavy shopping

Its the difference between can play games at good quality, and cannot play at all, heh|||If its a laptop im going to say you can not add a video card. If its a desk top you better make sure you have a PCI-E and if its 1.0 or 2.0 v. You will also need a 500w+ power supply. If everything is right you see a HUGH performance boost off the video card.|||little bit|||Going from integrated video to a GTX 250 is a HUGE boost- you'll see over 6X faster framerates in demanding games. As the previous poster has already mentioned, this is only possible on desktops.|||There will be a huge difference.

Is a DirectX 9 graphic the equivalent to 128 MB video card?

I'm thinking of buying a PC and to play sims 3 I need a 128MB video card is this the same as a DirectX 9 graphics?|||DirectX is a software implemented multimedia sub system in Windows.

It works with the graphics hardware, not in place of it.|||No.

Direct X specifies a set of APIs and hardware functionality to be certified as compliant. While Direct X does recommend a minimum amount of RAM, just because a card has 128MB of RAM actually is DX9 compliant.

That said, Vista has been out for over a year, so nearly all graphics cards of a year or less should be OK.|||the amount of memory has nothing to do with whether the graphics card is compatible with dx9, However, pretty much any graphics card you buy now will be compatible with dx9

Is it possible to download 128mb video card with support for pixel shader 2.0?

i just got the sims 3 today and it says my video card doesnt support it :(. in need of this video card like nowwww|||First of all, there is no need to be so rude (first poster) and secondly, if you're a Sims fan, you buy the game first and then you deal with any problems afterwards. If you're not a Simmer then you won't understand.

If you have any problems at all with your game, pop over to http://www.thesims3.com - if you have registered your game, you need to set up a profile. Everyone is extremely helpful over there and as this is a new game there are quite a few known glitches and workarounds.

As your problem is a video card as previously stated in the previous post, this is hardware and you will need to purchase it from a shop or store. It is only software (such as The Sims game :-)) that you can download on the Internet.

Sorry if this doesn't help but you can give me a bene anyway if you like!|||No it's a component in your computer so you have to buy it and plug it in to the motherboard. If you have a laptop it's not possible to change the video card but if you have a PC then you can buy a suitable card for about £30 but you will have to get someone that knows about computers to install it for you.

You should have checked the specs before buying the game!|||The thing the game is talking about is not something you can download, it is something that is inside your PC. You can upgrade your PC however considering you did not know what it was I would say you should probably just buy a new PC ensuring that it has 128Mb of video memory and support for pixel shader 2.0.|||There are some downloadable graphics cards(pardon my spelling)that enable pixel shadow 2.0 like this web adress.http://en.softonic.com/s/pixel-shader-2.0-graphic-cards

I need a sound card and video card?

im upgrading my vidoe card and sound card to play battlefield 2142 i have no idea what i have now can you tell without opening the pc and most likey its not good enought because it bought it in 2004 or 2005 so the video card has to be 128Mb Video card or more and the sound card has to be DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card where can i buy them online?|||go to froogle.google.com and type 512MB AGP card.......you get the cheapest card available on the internet or search for a better deal for them....its the same in case of Audio card toooo|||ebay|||ebay|||http://www.ebay.com

http://www.pricegrabber.com|||http://www.ebay.com|||start with the manufacture site of your pc to see what is already there...then you'll have a starting point...then you can search for the same types and probably find several listed on ebay, there are other places to get them from and that way you'll be sure to get what you pay for....tigerdirect, newegg, computergeeks, your manufacturers site may also have upgrade options available but I wouldn't generally buy the parts from the manufacturer as they are usually overpriced but at least they are guaranteed to work with your pc.|||To get some idea of what you already have, without opening the computer, in Windows XP do this:

1. Click Start

2. Click Run

3. Type msinfo32 and click OK

4. In the left column, click Components then Display

Alternatively at step 4, click Sound Device to find information about your sound card.

Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend?

I have nVidia FX5200 128MB video card and I install call of duty 4, when I run the game it gave me the following error ((Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend)) please help me|||Call of duty requires a ShaderModel 3 (aka DX9.0C) capable graphic card.

Read the system requirements on the box, it clearly says you need atleast a GeForce6600 card.

Time to upgrade im afraid.|||Software upgrade wont help. Even if you install DirectX9.0c software (which probably already got installed with game) your hardware cant give what the game demands.

I'd recommend you buy a used 6600GT 256mb card from ebay or a 7600GS.

Is the ATI Radeon 9200 LE 128MB video card compatible with Windows 7?

Please read my entire question because alot of people do not help me with their answers because they dont read!

I have two hard drives with one running Windows Vista Ultimate, and the other running Windows 7 Ultimate. My ATI Radeon 9200 LE video card and its driver were installed automatically by vista even though the card is not certified for vista. But when I try to install the card on the other hard drive, Windows 7 does not recognize the card, and does not install any drivers for it. I was wondering if I could some how get the driver for this card and manually install it in windows 7. Is this possible? If it is, where can I get the driver?|||it is if oyu find the windows vista drivers for it. otherwise wait until september when windows 7 comes out.

Hope this helps|||the ati website has windows 7 drivers (I know this because I installed my 4550 using them) .. check to see if theres a w7 driver for your 9200

I have a 128mb video card but it says it has 1gb vram?

any one know why it says that?|||128 is dedicated memory

the rest is shared with ram|||i think you have a kind of video card that makes use of your computer's ram.

Nvidia calls it TurboCache.|||vram = Virtual RAM.

Your card *steals* up to 1 gig of your computer's RAM memory?!? Time to get a new and better card. That's too much!

Will I be okay with a 128MB video card in my new Dell laptop with Vista? I have 3GB of RAM...See more below?

I just got a new Dell laptop, the Inspiron 1520. I am wondering if 128MB video card will be enough- it is the 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS. I have 3GB of RAM, Intel® Core 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) processor, and 160GB hard drive. Got a 15 inch widescreen. I'll be running Windows Vista Premium for basic tasks like lots of internet, word, excel, etc. No gaming at all. Sometimes some streaming video from the internet I like, but not a lot.

Is it going to be okay with 128MB or will a 256MB (to the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT) be necessary? I know a pretty good amount about configuring a computer, but I never knew about video cards and the impact they could have on the computing experience.|||Graphic RAM will not affect your laptop operation, this is a good graphic card you are using. 128 Mb is good enough for your operation. 3Gb of RAM is also well enough, but if you are paying extra to get up to 3 Gb RAM, it is not necessary to do so. 2Gb will be good enough.|||Its a great video card! You will be fine with that. Hope this helps!|||I have Dell 1520 Core 2 Duo with 1.5 ghz 2 gig RAM and the intel video chip X3100 and i can do all those plus gaming like Counter Strike with ease and no problems at all.

The slightly longer answer? You don't play them very well.

The details? Some games will install, but just play poorly. Other games will inform you that you don't meet the system requirements and not install.

Oh...and as far as the specs you included.. they don't really mean much. You said nothing about the processor speed involved. You said nothing about the specific games you want to play. So, there is no actual way to tell you whether your video card will work with the game you want to play.

So... to repeat the short answer... you can't. That answer sticks without specific information relating to all the specs of your computer, and the specific game or games you want to play.

end of line|||For higher fps, just close all your apps, and useless processes, use gamebooster as well, and give it a shot, or else - you're pretty stuck. :/

Which is a better video card?

Is a nvidia mx 4000 128mb better than a radeon 9250 128mb video card??|||OK, wait a second here...

First of all, the 9250 competed with Nvidia's GeForce 3 cards. This was released at a time when the Radeon began to pick up more steam. The 9250 was more of a budget card, but the mx 4000 was even worse. It was released almost 2 years earlier. The term "mx" was to "GT" like Celeron is to Pentium.

No doubt that the 9250 is the better card of the two. However like someone else said, don't waste any money on either. There are a lot of good modern cards available for well under $100. Check this article guide for suggestions in each price range:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/02/06/t…|||I wouldn't trust him on that lol. i have a 520w power supply and my computer has never froze before and stopped freezing once i removed the card

is this card bad?|||Check to see if you have the correct drivers. Or if your cpu is supported by the video card. I think they all are. Ne ways also check to see if you have put your graphics card on the correct speed, 16x. Because many agp graphics cards have different voltages than their motherboards so if you set it on agp 8x but its a different voltage, you could blow one or the other. PCI express should be no different.|||One possibility is that you installed the wrong drivers.

Did you make sure to disable on-board graphics?|||1. Download the latest video card drivers from www.nvidia.com

2. You need to disable your onboard graphics card (if you have one).

3. UNINSTALL your drivers for your 6600gt card and reboot into safe mode.

Once rebooted in safe mode, check under "Device Manager" and then "Display Adapters"...if it still says that the 6600gt is there, uninstall it again, but DO NOT reboot. Install the updated drivers that you downloaded earlier and then reboot windows in normal mode.

NVIDIA drivers are extremely picky if there are any other video drivers installed, even if it is their own :(

I have inspiron 9100 with ati radeon 9700 128mb video card. i want to upgrade it what are my options?

If you'd like to change the graphics chip, you can get them up to

512mb in memory. Since you have a 128, you can still get

256 and 512. You can do this at any electronis store near you, depending on what they have. If you want to upgrade to WinVista,

your Random Access Memory (RAM) must be at least 512mb, you hard drive at least 40gb with 15gb free, and your current graphics chip is OK for now, as long as it's 3D and DirectX9

capable. Your Inspiron 9100 is ready for this edition of Vista:

ULTIMATE.

This is the best Vista possible and it's got all the Windows Vista designatted feats, unlike HOME PREM.,HOME BASIC, or BUSINESS.

You can also change your RAM memory to these available:

64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 mb

They'll help you install Vista easier(the ones 512 and over.)

I hope this helped!|||If that's the same as the laptop I have, you need a new computer if you want to upgrade. If it is a desktop, you need to make sure the motherboard can handle the type of card (agp, for example) and the card's capabilities (some cards are too fast for the motherboard, so you end up wasting your money). I frequenly use www.tomshardware.com in my research process.

Is 128mb video card ok for games?

NO!|||you can get by with a 128 mb card as long as the ram on it is at least ddr3. If it is newer (7600+), chances are it is. If the ram is regular ddr, then that just makes it slower. See, 128mb ddr3 ram is about as good "game wise" as 256 ddr. Another thing to consider is memory bus bandwidth. Sometimes you can't find this spec on the box, but www.newegg.com usually has it there for you. Generally speaking, cheaper cards will use a 128-bit bus and pair it with 128mb ddr3. Mid-range cards might use a 256-bit bus which doubles the memory bandwidth (how much data the memory can handle/communicate at one time) Now, you may not want a 256mb or 512mb card that uses a 128-bit bus because you are not utilizing all of your memory. Just like you wouldn't want a 512-bit bus for only 128mb ddr3.

One other not, some companies will make a big deal about the core clock speed of a gpu, this isn't that important really. What generation chipset is present is important, but now how fast it goes. As far as speed, that's in the memory. There is also what is called "pixel pipes." But don't worry about that too much as the more $$$ = the more pipes.|||You will be able to play games, but not at their full potential. SO either go for 256 or 512. You wont need to upgarde again.|||it is depend on your games. but 256 mb is better|||The GPU (6600, 7900, 8800, etc) is actually more important than the amount of RAM. There are many 256 MB cards that will outperform some 512 MB cards for instance, simply because they have a much more advanced GPU. But in general with todays software, 128 MB cards are not very good.

Visit this site to get an idea of how a given card stacks up:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2…|||For new games and upcoming games, i say 512 MB is the minimum.|||it depends the game.its better to go for a 256Mb card coz most of the new games are need high capacities and get a directX 10 compatible one.|||Depends.. i got a 6600Gt, considered one of the best 128mb card. They are old but cheap, but not worth to get. This days 256 are cheap too, i seen a 512mb selling at $150+ on ebay. But if u want to get a good 128mb gfx card get 6600GT!|||Well it depends upon the games you're playing. Some games requires higher capacity (more on 3D games) some don't. But the higher the capacity of the video card the better the games, more satisfaction :) . If you're into 3D games well thats the minimum requirements but if you're into non-3D that would fit I think. Enjoy playing!!!|||256 is considered the bare minimum for games, even with 256, you would have to make serious compromizes. New vid cards are cheap now, get a mid priced direct x10 card

What advantages does a 128mb video card have?

Better graphics, but honestly, 128MB is going to get you nowhere. You should at least have a 256MB|||it has 128 Mb or ram on board it will use in lieu of your conventional ram?

How I update the driver of my video card?

It will quickly identify your devices and locate the most current driver for each device. You can go to http://www.pcdriverupdate.com and get a free scan. I recommend scanning your computer at least once a month to make sure your drivers stay up to date. Basic iMac 20" w/2.0ghz and 128mb video card for games?

I'm trying to decide between the basic iMac that comes with 2.0ghz and a 128mb card, and the more expensive one with 2.4ghz and a 256mb card. I plan to install 4gb of RAM from a third-party. Will the weaker video card be able to handle upcoming games like Starcraft 2 with full resolution and the video settings at their best?|||there is no iMac that can handle any recent game at full resolution and video settings at their best.

Blizzard has always made their games compatible with Macs, and also with low graphics cards. so it will work, just not necessarily at full graphics.

the X2400XT is a very very low end card. for both nVidia and ATi, the rule of thumb is never buy anything thats got less than a 6 in the hundreds place. the X1600 Pro used in the 2 year old iMac is better than the X2400XT.

you can See the two video cards used in the iMacs here and how they stack up against all the rest of the video cards on the market in this link:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2…

they are highlighted in Blue.

as you can see, they are towards the bottom, but the 2600Pro 256MB is significantly better than the 2400XT 128MB.

If you are interested in Games, i would seriously consider a PC. even if you love OS X, you could buy a Mac Mini, a PC with an 8600GTS, and a monitor all for around the same price as a 2.4ghz iMac. as you can see the 8600GTS made it about 2/3s to the top of the list.|||If you have the money, go with the better one. I've got the Radeon X1600 on a two year old iMac (128 MB) and the few games I run are fine but I am not a serious gamer.|||Don't expect stellar gaming from any Mac. The best video cards you can run in them are mid-range. No Mac drivers for the big cards. If you want anything close to decent gaming get the biggest video card option the Mac you're buying has.

You're not going to run the big games at the highest resolutions and with all the eye candy maxed out on a Mac. That's why the Mac guy on the commercials nevers brags about playing games on his Mac. Macs are great for some applications but gaming isn't one of them

I need a 128MB video card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 to run SIMS 3. Will my current video card suffice?

I currently have a via chrome9 hc igp family version: 6.14.10.99 video card on my pc, will this work? my computer is a little old... any help would be highly appreciated! :)|||Yes it will run the game as it has pixel shader 2.0 support. You can set up the adapter to have 128MB of memory by adjusting the shared memory settings in your laptop's BIOS.

128MB Video Card with 700MB of RAM?

Would a new 128MB Video Card work with my 700MB of RAM?

I generally only use 2 programs at once. (If even that)|||You have not told us why you want to upgrade the video card. This system will NOT play games well. It won't even if you add the card.

Telling us you are using only 2 programs at a time doesn't tell us anything. It depends on what type programs they are. You could have several DOZEN instances of wordpad open and it would use less resources than one game, movie or cad program.

You have not told us what type system you're using. But NO computer ships with 700M ramm. You probably have 1G and hardware virtualization is reserving 300M.

It would be FAR more advantageous to add more ramm FIRST. Because hardware is virtualized in memory, your system will actually run SLOWER with the new card. However, if you upgraded to 2G or 4G, and add a 128 video card, it COULD be a good idea. A 128 M card is NOT going to do much for you. Most integrated video solutions can do just as well so it is NOT an upgrade.

It is very unusual for a system to be shipped with only 1G of ramm unless it is a very low end system. Adding a video card won't help the system much. Adding extra ramm WOULD be a very good idea, whether or not you upgrade the vid. If you add the ramm in matched pairs, almost all computers will run in dual channel mode which will make your system operate MUCH faster

If you have a low end laptop or a netbook, you can NOT add a video card. You can on a desktop system|||Your graphics card has almost nothing to do with your RAM if you're looking at compatibility. check if you have the correct port (empty) in your motherboard. If you do, then you should be able to use the video card. In other words, video card memory and Ram don't depend on each other.|||It depends if that video card with 128mb would work with your computer. The more Ram you have the better as well. That video car just means that you have 128mb dedicated to video output and you can also allow it to use some of your ram as well for better performance. If you aren't running video intensive programs or editors you should be fine running multiple programs at the same time. Some computers run 512 mb Ram and no dedicated ram for their video cards and run multiple programs and it works fine. Hope this helps.

Which video card do i get?

i have a dell vostro 200, windows xp, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz, 1gb ram and 128mb video card.

i only have one video card and i want to add another screen so that it should be an extention to my screen that i have now. does it matter which video card i get or can i just use a "vga y"?|||Your current video card should have 2 video ports on the back. Just buy another monitor.

If it doesn't then any video card that fits your PC should work and come with 2 vga/dvi ports.|||will if u just want to get anoter screen get a screen spliter, it gives u two screen and it only like 20 bucks, or u could get a 9500Gt with is like 80-100 bucks and do that

Where can I find out what AGP Video cards are better than my Radeon 9800 (128mb) that I have now.?

My motherboard, which is decent only goes up to an AGP slot, and I'm currently using a ATI Radeon 9800 (128mb) video card and am wondering what AGP cards are better than that?

Is there a chart or something that someone can link me to?

If I go to current sites like tomshardware.com, they only graph out newer cards....|||To figure this out, you'd need to go through the Tom's hardware archives, as they don't have cumulative comparisons. You can go to the last AGP roundup before they switched to their new system

http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/07/05/v…

then compare the relative performance of your card on that chart to the performance of the cards in Desktop VGA Charts 2005.|||AGP is fine. As far as a radeon 9800 128...

You can choose from either a 256mb ddr3 or

a 512mb ddr3 as long as it is an AGP interface.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…|||I doubt you will find charts out for AGP cards. 9800pro was a good card mostly because of its 256bit memory bus. Any new card running DDR3 thru a 256bit memory bus will outperform it. I suggest a 512MB card. If you plan on using Vista or have it go with an 8000 series Nvidia or 2000 series ATI card. Just be sure you have a power supply that can handle the new cards requirements in both watts and +12V amps.

How do i no if i have a 128MB video card?

I no how to get to where you can check this but after that i'm lost.

You have to make sure what slot you have available in your computer before you buy the card though. If you have an on-board graphics chip as opposed to a graphics card, that has to be disabled at the same time as you are installing the new card.

Best idea is to take a photo of your computer internals and take it to a computer store that you trust and let them take a look at your motherboard slots. There's like 3 different types. (AGP, PCI etc) They will advise you.

Hello every1 i have toshiba laptop with 128mb video card why its very hard to put 1gb video card on it?

I wanted to get BioShock 1 for my pc, but it requires a 128mb video card and I only have a 64mb card. My computer meets or exceeds the rest of the requirements, so if I get the game and turn down the graphics could it work? Other than wishful thinking, that is.

Sorry, but I think you'll be wasting your money if you buy BioShock without upgrading your video card.|||No. They game would run so slow (if at all) that it wouldn't be worth it.

Thanks|||Once the card using the integrated memory is disabled all that memory will be re-allocated to system use.

You will have an extra 128MB of RAM the operating system.

Philip|||it just replaces it.the on board video chip is disabled.|||No. If you replace another videocard (different from built-in Video Accelerator or Graphic Adapter) You will have to choose one of those video cards. Because you will have to connect your cable of the monitor to one of the Output contacts.

But, whatever, the card that you want to add to your system will probably be better than the built-in one. (usually the built-in adapters have less functions and work slower than the other ones).

How to increase Video Card MB?

I wanted to play the game Anno4.

I have a 128MB Video Card

The game needs 256MB Card

So how to I increase the MB??|||The video card is hardware. The only thing you can do is buy a new video card and install it.|||Buy a new video card.

Can all 128mb video cards run off 280 watts of power or less?

There aren't any details about the power needed to run the card on the descriptions|||I would say that if we speak only to the card... No Worries!

BUT! It will depend on how many other cards/drives you have in the machine. Typically, a single drive / CD-Rom / video card setup should be fine with a 280w. Anything less than 150w will be pressing it!|||depends on the card.

you are gonna push a power supply with a big card.

newegg.com

get a sparkle.

MIKE|||no. older 128mb gpu cards may be able to, but newer models require minimally 350w power supplies. However, it also depends on what other hardware you have running in your computer.|||Why do you care about the power? That depends not just from the card but from the slot that is attached too.

PCI Express slots slots conected with 3 supply lines:

two 12volts and one 3volts

According to the PCI Express x16 1.0a specification, up to 72 watts of power can be transferred through the +12V lines of the mainboard as well as through the additional power connector 12volt Ext., i.e. 144 watts in total. Plus some power can be transferred from 3volt line

So a card not natter what card is, 128MB, 256MB or more, can't use more than 150 watts, have in mind that from +12 and +3volts lines other devices take power too.

For AGP slot it pretty much the same.:

Quite a few of the AGP slot pins are designed to supply power to the graphics card – 3.3v, 5v and 12v.

The maximum consumption currents on these lines are 6A, 2A and 1A, respectively, according to the latest specification, AGP 3.0.

If you know the voltages and the maximum currents, you can easily calculate the power consumption of the graphics card through the AGP slot – it is about 41.8W

Today no one is surprised to see an extra power connector on top-end graphics cards. These connectors are analogous to the power connectors of hard disk drives and optical drives (RADEON 9700/9500-based cards use the power connector of the floppy drive) and they supply power by 5v and 12v rails. Some graphics cards are equipped with two such connectors even.

Thus, the maximum power consumption of graphics cards with one additional connector, without counting the AGP slot in, may range from 110.5W to 170W, of graphics cards with two additional connectors – from 221W to 340W.

The two power connectors on the GeForce 6800 Ultra is not a consequence of a crazy appetite, but a desire of the manufacturer to ensure the stability of power supply by dividing the currents into two connectors.

Even for 6800 ultra that uses 2 extra connectors the power never exceed the limit of 80 watt.

So as you see no card use power more than 140 watt.

Will a 128MB video card run windows vista? or do i need 256MB?

it should but it will depend on the chips set.

I had a 64MB PCI ATI radeon card running x86 windows Vista beta for a friend a while back.

so in short yes it should be fine.

however i'm using a 256MB ATI radeon GPU, 3GB RAM, AMD Sempron3400 CPU with 6 200GB seagate hard drives amongst a host of other accessories. and running the x64 verion of the beta and wow it is a lot better than xp performance wise in my case. for example just ideling in xp my system runns at around 80% of CPU performance, where as vista the ideling rate is down to under 50% on average. with the ram remaining at under 50% for most applications except when i run resource intensive programs such as the media centre program or the TV tuner card.

but all in all great.

so to sum up the short answer is yes your 128MB card should be fine. however make sure that the manufacturer provides vista drivers for the card.|||yeah its the minimum i think. but if you have a really fast 128mb card, you will be fine.|||128 will work|||its advisable, that u have 256mb but it should work ok

it depends more on the other hardware in your machine eg the hard drive, CPU, RAM.|||Windows vista has video accelaration pmt software. In other words it needs 128mb to run at full capacity, it needs 256mb to look really really good. But it also means that if you are generaly good with computers you should be able to get it to run on a 64mb if needed. When you load it, just let it do all automatic settings and it will figure it out for you.|||Windows Vista Enterprise Hardware Planning Guidance

Can a 128mb video card produce an HD quality image on an average screen?

yes any vga monitor that can have a higher resolution than the original standard of television resolution would be hidef. at 640 480 , the 480 being the lines vertically. now most monitors were svga that could do this which became the standard. so even if the vertical lines are only increased to say 520 it would be considered HD, now in the tv world the first ones that did that were categorized as enhanced definition. nevertheless they were HD.

and as for the video card the best thing to do is to identify what video card you have and research it. you can do this all well as determine if it can do as high of a resolution as say 1080 then you just did to right click on the desktop then choose properties then choose settings. this will give you the capabilities of the video card and what resolution it can handle. and click advanced the adaptor to see what card you have.

of course for best results you should keep the drivers up to date

and just so you know the computer monitor is what gave us HD technology which was adapted to television standards. the ntsc standard we use originally was 525 scanlines but we only had 486 that were visible hence the 480 standard|||it depends, is the 128mb dedicated to the card or shared? dedicated is much better

also whats the size and resolution of the screen?|||if the 128 card your talking about got onboard memory (not shared memory) and if its a medium end or a high end graphics card by a well known company yes it can .|||All modern monitors are HD!

How do I upgrade a Geforce fx5200 8x 128MB video card?

I need to upgrade my 2 year old computer video card. It is systemax Pentium 4 3.2 ghz with 200 G hard drive. I currently have a Nivida Geforce 5200 8x video card with 128 mg memory with tv/out.|||The only way to upgrade computer hardware is to replace it with something newer. No software can upgrade physical hardware. Like everyone has said, go to http://www.newegg.com and find one that's an nVidia Gefore with AGP.|||8x hmmm that's AGP right

the best deal for an AGP card is the ATI X800XL is about 179.99 at newegg.|||So buy a new card. Piece of cake. Nvidia has unified drivers [same drivers for every card] so you just take out the 5200 and put in the new one. Presto. Then update your drivers to the new ones by going to the website and downloading them.

You are limited to AGP, but they have 'em at newegg.com. Everything depends on your budget.

Can i use my old Nvidia GeForce MX440 128mb video card to my new 19" LCD display?

i'm planning to buy a new monitor.i'm thinking if my old video card can support the 1440x900 resolution of the 19" LCD display. pls help me. tnx|||Yes, however you might have to update your driver. The 128MB card has the ability to do it, so you need to make sure your driver can tell it how. Older Nvidia drivers did not support the widescreen resolutions very well (1440x900 is a widescreen resolution) but newer drivers work better. Also, if for some reason the card does not recognize the new display's resolution, you may have to tweak the driver a bit by unchecking the option that shows only the modes the monitor will support and find the resolution, bit depth, and refresh rate that work best.|||I don't think it will support the monitors native resolution. You should be able to have aero already.

oops, I missed the 1G hard disk, lol, that would be a problem if it was true, hehehe|||Not enough RAM. 512 MB is a drop in the bucket for a memory hungry game. Windows XP require 128MB just to run itself, let alone, run any other software that your computer runs in the background.

Pixel shader 2.0 No.

erm also, there are "intergrated" cards that come on the motherboard that are faster then the 9250.

Whats a good video card that I can get and where can I get it?

I'm looking for a better video card for my Dell Dimension 9100. It has a 128mb video card right now, and nowadays that's not enough for games. It has Dual Pentium D 3.0 GHz Processors, 2 GB of RAM, and a 375 watt power supply.|||Your 9100 has a PCI-E x16 slot which means you can use PCI-E x16 video cards.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/sy…

With the 375 power supply, your best options are:

1) Radeon 5670

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Best all-around card for your computer, the only one around that price point with DX11 support. Uses less power than advertised- works great in 350W systems.

2) GeForce GT240

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Good performer- it's the best card which only requires a 300W power supply.

You might also consider the energy saving/green editions of the GeForce 9800GT

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

These particular 9800GT models are shorter/smaller, only require 350W (they don't have a 6-pin power plug) and are clocked at 550Mhz. Those run about dead-even with the Radeon 5670, although they don't support DX11.

The standard 600Mhz 9800GT cards are faster but also larger. They have the PCI-E power connector and require a minimum of 400W, so you cannot use those (or anything better) without upgrading your power supply first.|||Luckily, your computer has 1 PCI Express X16 slot available, which is great for most modern day graphics cards. The only thing is that your power supply is low. These days, graphics cards require at least a 500W-600W power supply, so I'd definitely recommend buying a new one before installing a new graphics card. Corsair and Antec both make very good brands and I'd recommend buying these, and never a cheap power supply.

As far as video cards go, there are many out there. I can't recommend a single one, but the ATI Radeon 4000 series are great cards. They should work pretty good on your older computer, and they don't require a very big power supply. You can check them out here: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/g…

Make sure to check the specifications under the video card page you are looking at to see the minimum recommended system power supply for that video card.

128mb video card is equivalent to geforce series what?

i found that the minimum requirement for a particular game is 128mb video card, do you know what 128mb video card is equivalent to in geforce series?|||the gforce 5000 series and 6000 series some are still 128mb. Should be the FX series.|||There is really no "Equivalent" in the sense that you are talking about.

The Geforce has had at least 7 series of video cards with options for 128MB of Video ram.

The first I believe was the Geforce 2 ultra which some companies were shipping with 128mb.

You can buy a Geforce 9000 series card with 128mb as well.

To be safe, anything Geforce 6600 and up is going to be fine.|||128mb of video memory is pretty much a minimum standard these days. Most video cards are 512mb of video or 1gig and buying something to meet the minimum standard usually means gaming enjoyment suffers. I couldn't find an Nvidia GeForce card with that minimum rating of memory. I attached a link to a reputable online source that provides good information on video cards as well as other PC components.

Good luck|||Dude my last card was a Geforce 6200 and that too it was a 256mb card. I'm pretty sure u know geforce now has the 8/9 series with the 260/280 GTX. it would really help to know what game u were talking about. Also don't look for the minimum requirements unless u want really sappy quality (to the point it doesnt feel goodplaying). Video cards are getting cheaper due to new technology.

Also we need to know whether your motherboard has a pci-express slot. pci-E cards are cheaper that the AGP and provide better performance.

These days a good old card would be the 8800s. i saw in tigerdirect.ca (after rebates) a Geforce 8800GS 384 mb was like 68 canadian dollars. Apparently there was a review where a guy says he could play crysis on High settings with 38fps (don't know if he's telling the truth) but the card had alot of good reviews.

Something better than an 8800s would be the 9800s. The problem is if u go higher than the 8800GS, u cross over 100$. a 9800 gt cost like 139. and if ur willing to spend that much, i would suggest u get an 8800ultra. its like 199 canadian. Thats a card i want to get and am sure that i wont have trouble playing new games with decent frame rates.|||Many different cards have different VRAM sizes. But you're looking for an older 7600GS/GT.

Can i get a 128mb video card with support 4 pixel shader 2.0 for sims 3 @ target or walmart?

I just purchased the sims 3 and its asking for a 128mb video card with support for a pixel shader 2.0 and have no clue what that is.|||hi selena

this is the most asked question on answers for a long time, personally i have answered over 50 posts regarding the sims 3 however here we go

to begin with there are not many video/graphic cards that come with only 128mb these days so 256mb would be the best option, and pixel and shader model 2.0 compliant cards are not that much cop aswell so we shall go with cards using the latest pixel and shader model 4.1

the first card i shall recommend is the excellent EVGA GeForce GTS250 SC 1GB ( http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d… ) and allthough this is quite expensive this will run the sims at maximum detail and the resolution as high as you can set it

i have this card and trust me its the bee,s knee,s..any game i run on my rig i can happily max out all the detail without worrying about frame rates or stuttering (lagging)...even the demanding "crysis" runs sweet wih this card

specifications wise it has a 738mhz core clock and 1024mb of gddr3 memory running at 1100mhz(2200mhz ddr effective) and with a sizable 256bit memory interface and a 70.1gb/sec memory bandwidth this all equates to a awesome gaming card..period!

for a more modest budget theres the Visiontek "Black Box" ATI HD2600Pro 256MB( http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d… ) ,and allthough this isnt as fast as the evga gts250 its still fast enough to run the sims 3

however bare in mind this uses the agpx8 interface and i have included this incase you have this rather than pci-express

a modest priced pci-express card on the other hand is the VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 3650 1GB Graphics Card( http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d… again this is more than powerful enough for the sims 3 and has some capable specifications aswell

these include a 600mhz core clock and 1gb of gddr3 memory clocked at 500mhz(1000mhz ddr effective) and this also has a 128bit memory interface

so theres the cards, however to finish with i will explain what pixel and shader model is and why its used

pixel and shader model relates to a cards DirectX compliance. DirectX can be divided into two specifications, the Pixel Shader Model, and the Vertex Shader Model. Each model has different hardware requirements, and when you take both into account you can determine the overall DirectX version.

Think of this number as a more specific description of the DirectX version. Specifically, what pixel manipulation capabilities it has.

and there are four versions that have been released since it was released during direct x 8.1

these include :

PS2.0 - Came with the original DirectX 9.0 specification. First implemented in the Radeon 9700 Pro.

PS2.0a - Usually refers to the extended PS2.0 version supported by nVidia's GeForce FX line. Essentially a quarter of the way to full blown PS3.0. It supported far more instructions and features than the PS2.0 specification required.

PS2.0b - Refers to the shader model supported by the Radeon X700/X8*0 series. Could handle more instructions than PS2.0, but was still behind PS2.0a in instruction limits and features.

PS3.0 - Most notably added dynamic flow control making the gpu much more like a general processor (cpu). Also removed the ceiling on most instruction limits entirely and raised other limits significantly. This model is supported by all GeForce 6 Series and higher and all Radeon X1000 series and higher.

----------------------------------------…

so there you have it selena, basically any game you buy these days uses and requires a specific pixel and shader model and your graphic card needs to support that shader model or better

and thats why i would recommend you buy a card that supports the most recent shader model and this would avoide having to buy another card when another game is released that you want to buy

allthough the "sims 3" requires pixel and shader model 2.0 there are very few others that require model 2.0 so by buying a card that supports pixel and shader model 4.1 this covers all areas and makes you pc graphics fully future proof

i hope this helps, however any problems let me know

good luck selena !|||This is a great cheap graphics card that will work great with the sims 3.

How can i find out what size mb my video card is?

on my sony vaio laptop to see if my games works. some games have 64mb video card and some have 128. i want to look into it to get a 128mb video card. the 64mb works but not the 128mb.thank you|||http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/ref…|||It is likely that your Vaio has a 32 MB or 64MB video card. It is also possible your computer doesn't have enough available RAM to process the 128 MB animations.

In a Windows XP environment, you can check the video card by going to your control panel, clicking on Performance & Maintenance, Clicking on System, then selecting the Hardware Tab. Look for the video card name. Then, if the MB do not display, simply google the video card to see what its specs are. Cheers

I added a 128MB video card but still my webcam doesn't work nicely. will adding 512MB DDR266 improve it? TNX!

128mb is on the small side nowadays. I have 512mb and that's a little more excessive. Get a 256mb graphics card. That might do it for you but that's probably not the problem. Your webcam may seem gritty and grainy on your computer because the webcam itself is not very good. Try a newer logitech. The logitech webcams are very good.|||Well you got somewhat ahead of yourself. It is not so much the video card that is the problem. Your webcam needs updated. Buying one that costs over $50 is going to give you a nice quality, not saying the more you pay is better. Try a 1.3megapixel or higher. :)

Is the Inspiron 1501 256MB video card good enough for second life? How does it vary in performance other 256?

I build and sell laptops as a second job, and someone approached me looking for a laptop to play second life on. The requirements are 128MB video card, preferably a 256 or better. The other requirements were so low they weren't a problem. The only cheap laptop sporting a 256MB video card was an Inspiron 1501. Anybody ever play second life or any other graphics intensive game on one? Will it work ok? Does it perform like a regular 256MB video card or does it suck like integrated graphics? Thanks|||It will run everything that a regular 256 card can run but it will lag a little more because it used system resources to power the video card, just not memory. Processor speed and such will still be used and it will perform best when run on the AC adapter|||It should be ok for that purpose

I am planning to buy a new laptop, any suggestion? I need at least 128MB video card, not shared.?

I am also thinking about Intel Duo core. HD above 80G, 1024Mb memory. Thanks!|||If the money is not an important factor for that and also you don't need a number one monitor (LCD) go ahead with an IBM Think Pad T Series. It's the perfect choice.

If the LCD is an important factor get a one that has a technology in LCD (like as Toshiba and SONY).

Also the following specifications are highly recommended in your laptop:

HDD: (No matter what's the size but) at least 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM

LCD: 15" (Wide is also a good choice but the wide LCDs has less life than a normal LCD and also cheaper in producing)

Bluetooth: Up to you if you have such devices.

Mouse: TouchPad and TrackPoint both are recommended.

Disk Drive: Floppy is dead long time ago as you know. But DVD-RAM is not a perfect choice if you don't use. So get a Combo drive (CD-RW, DVD-ROM)

WLAN: If you don't use no need to take a Centrino.

CPU: 533Mhz FSB is a good choice, much better than 400Mhz FSB.

RAM: at least 1 GB. DDR2 is recommended.

GPU: nVidia, ATI both are good.|||Dell has very good laptops.|||Dell Inspiron 9400, select the optional 256MB Radeon X1400 card.

Is there a speed difference between a 128MB and 64MB PCI video card?

Since PCI is considerably slower than AGP. Would a 128MB video card noticeably out perform a 64MB video card. This computer is running a Pentium 3 at 900Mhz on a 133 FSB with 512MB of RAM.|||Video card memory doesn't correspond to speed. All it does is let the card use higher-quality textures, and other memory-intensive features. If both cards use the same processor, they will operate at the same speed.|||yes. there will be.

but if you are planning to upgrade, or still debating if it doesnt worth the try...

here is my recommendation. keep the motherboard - upgrade your processor, RAM, and harddrive. also the video card - and i promise you that those 200 bucks will be worthy!!!|||PCI is slower then AGP, however PCI Express is much faster then AGP. As for those cards it depends what you are doing, playing games designed for the age of those cards, yes you will see a difference, but if you or performing general task, word, internet, editing picutres, and small movies then no you will not see a different.|||you may not be able to swap your processor, depends on your mobo, but maxing out your ram and upgrading your video will give you a noticeable difference.|||Two answers:

Yes the 126MB would be better than the 65MB

Second Part: The bads news is that your computer is somewhat old. Putting new parts is not really going to make the machine run any faster. This is not what reallt what to hear, but its the truth.

You may be better off buying a newer computer. You can purchase a Emachnies with three times the power, Windows 7 for about $300.00

What are the limitations with running Windows Vista with a 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS graphics card?

I'm asking this question because I'm planning to buy a Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop and the best video card available for it is the 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS. However, Windows Vista best operates on a video card with at least 256MB of memory from what I understand.

I don't mind purchasing a better graphics card but then I'll have to upgrade to a 15.4" screen which I do not want. Thus, if the limitations of a 128MB video card won't be significant, then I want to stick with the Dell Inspiron 1420. All I will use it for is browsing, media, and the occasional photo editing utilities.|||Yeah Andreina is totally right about that.|||A least buy a 256MB because if you don't it won't operate as well as you wanted to work. My brother ask the same question In a computer store and that's exactly what they recommended him, and i wish you good luck with everything.|||It'll work fine. Don't go out and switch to 15.4-inch screen model just because you want a 256MB card.|||256. it will work on 128MB I had it work on 64 MB but it used to crash when I watch TV om my computer, so to be on the safe side 256.

I bought a crucial 9600se 128mb video card, but it doesn't fit...?

My agp (yes it's an old computer) slot takes cards with two notches, not one...what can I get that's 128mb?|||did you use crucials scan of pc or the drop downs to choose the pc it is for ? they usually are very good about only telling you what will fit. try going to newegg.com they have large stock and great pricing, i use crucial to confirm what i need then i buy with newegg you may want to just uppgrade the motherboard too or get a refurb pc.|||are you sure you have an AGP video card? i am willing to bet you have a PCI-E video card that has one notch toward the left side of the card when looking at it the way you would install it

What video card is best for the Sims 3?

I tried to install the Sims 3 onto my laptop...and it says that i need a 128mb video card, with support for pixel shader 2.0. Im not very good with computers and i dont even know what a video card is, or if you buy it in a shop, over the internet, or if you download it. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 3000....what video card is compatible?|||That happened to me, too! I almost cried.

Someone suggested going into best buy with a print-out of your dxdiag. Here's how to get it:

1. Click Start.

2. Click "Run"

3. Type in "dxdiag" without quotations.

4. Click "okay."

5. At the bottom of the panel, click "Save all Information." It should save it to a document.

6. Print it out.

Then, print out a copy of the minimum requirements for Sims 3. Unhook your computer and bring it to a Best Buy. They'll help you pick out the perfect card for Sims 3, and even tell you if you need other upgrades to play the Sims 3.|||Unfortunately Laptop Graphics Cards are not usually upgradeable...in your case....yours is built onto the motherboard. Now...you may be able to increase your RAM to 2GB and put 256MB toward the Shared graphics memory to get it to work...but it is a slim chance. Either way the additional RAM will increase the overall performance of your computer. Your computer uses the SIS Mirage 2 graphics which is technically only able to support Pixel Shader 1.3...like i said it is a slim chance...but a chance none the less.

I have a geforce fx 5200 128mb video card in my msi-ms7211 model pc and 2nd tv is fuzzy as heck?

My pc is a pc3200 msi- ms-7200 with the geforce fx5200 video card and i've tried buying a 4-pin cord for the video out on the card and i ran the rca jacks on the other end to my tv and the screen is really, really bad, you can tell there is the same picture that's on the desktop, but it looks very scrambly and bad, i tried everything. i even installed the drivers from the msi and nvidia websites, nothing is working? i set the tv as dual view and as clone. i right click on my desktop and go to settings and switched resolutions and hertz? i even checked the box extend my windows desktop into this monitor? i hope it's something small? nobody has helped me yet on other site fixes.|||There are some things that would likely make your TV/monitor fuzzy...

1). faulty cables

2). faulty connections in the videocard

and lastly

3) If your tv is one of those with normal definition (the old ones) it couldn't handle high resolutions and would project it in its own size making the screen really fuzzy and with text unreadable...

Can 128 or 256MB Video Card Be Added To Previously 60MB on PC?

I Have 64MB Video Card on my PC. I want to upgrade it. is it possible? if i buy 128MB Video Card,Will It be added to my 64MB and make it a 64MB+128MB=192MB or it will be just 128MB , because if i purchase 128MB card , and if it dsn't combine or added to my 64MB Video Card,Then my that64MB card will be useless or waste.

Now I Have PC with 64MB Video Card and 1GB Ram with 2.14Ghz Speed.

Pls Make it urgent.

Thanks.|||only 128mb or 256 if you buy a 256 Video card

good luck|||You woudl be replacing the 64 mb card for the better card, but yes it is possible. You cannot combime the MBs of the two cards. It doesn not work that way.|||The RAM will not be added, two separate pieces of hardware. On the good side, if the video card you have now is built in, then when you install the new card, disable the old on in the BIOS and you will reclaim that 64 MB for your OS.|||you cannot add on to your video card it sounds like you have an integrated video card if so when you plan on making a purchase make sure you get the right slot you may have AGP if this is a laptop then that makes it more difficult to add memory

Should I upgrade my video card or my motherboard?

Hi! I am having this dilema with this PC I built about 2 years ago.

It seems that it can't handle newer games like GT-R or The Sims 2, even though my PC exceeds the system requirements on most of my games (most demanding game I have requires only a 1.0GHz system with 256MB Ram and 128MB video card). The games have that occasional 'hiccup' while playing, and I see my hard drive working longer than usual. The worst is when I quit the games. It takes almost a full minute to exit the game, and again, I see the hard drive working overtime. :-)

My PC is built on an Asus A7V8X-X motherboard, AMD Athlon XP2800 (2.0 GHz), 512MB DDR PC3200 RAM, and ATI Radeon 9600 AGP video card with 128MB.

Would I be better off buying a newer motherboard (like an Asus A8N 32-SLI-Deluxe NVIDIA Socket 939 ATX & an AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 2.60GHz CPU), and transfer all my existing components onto it, or will just buying a faster video card solve my problem?

Thanks|||Upgrade your video card and buy more RAM. You can put these two things into a new system if you want to replace your motherboard (and processor, optionally) later. Your motherboard looks fine, from online specs I've seen of it.

I have 128 Mb card too, and it is slow for online action games like FIFA World Cup 2006, for example. Try and upgrade to a 256Mb video card, or even better, a 512Mb video card.|||I believe try purchasing a better vid card. That is what we have to do because the new Warcraft expansion is too much for my computer. my bil said the vid card would help.|||Common problem with ASUS motherboards.............buy new intel motherboard with Nvidia geforce graphics card...........

if you do not want to spend money then chean up your PC by using System mechanic professional6 .

you can download it from WWW.download.COM|||Well, you are probably more of an expert than me, but I would suggest upgrading the vid card first. The newer mid-range cards come with 512 MB onboard.

Then try going 1 gig on the RAM, and if all that fails, then get a mobo that will transfer your existing components.

I just think your vid card is a little on the low end for today's applications, and the RAM is ok for minimal applications, but if you are running XP, remember that is gonna steal a lot of resources already.|||None of the above. Buy more RAM. Another 512MB would do wonders. Your configuration really isn't much different than mine except that I have an ATI 9700 and 1GB of RAM. While not a screaming machine by today's standards, I can still play newer games (though not at the highest resolutions). More RAM would be the cheapest way to improve your current system's performance.|||You could go either route. If you were to buy a new motherboard you should go with a duel core compatable so that you will not have to do that in the near future to keep up with the games that you are playing. If you go with a new graphics card it could be a temp. solution to the problem but eventually you will need to buy a motherboard. The way that you are talking about the hard drive it could be the hard drive going out on you. Take into consideration the age and the usage of the items that you are using. I would say for a more permanate solution you sould go with the new motherboard, but make sure that you have plenty of memory and a good ghaphics card capapble of the games in which you wish to play.|||You gotta do both and upgrade to atleast 1GB Ram my computer has 2GB ram tho
