Is 128mb video card ok for games?

NO!|||you can get by with a 128 mb card as long as the ram on it is at least ddr3. If it is newer (7600+), chances are it is. If the ram is regular ddr, then that just makes it slower. See, 128mb ddr3 ram is about as good "game wise" as 256 ddr. Another thing to consider is memory bus bandwidth. Sometimes you can't find this spec on the box, but www.newegg.com usually has it there for you. Generally speaking, cheaper cards will use a 128-bit bus and pair it with 128mb ddr3. Mid-range cards might use a 256-bit bus which doubles the memory bandwidth (how much data the memory can handle/communicate at one time) Now, you may not want a 256mb or 512mb card that uses a 128-bit bus because you are not utilizing all of your memory. Just like you wouldn't want a 512-bit bus for only 128mb ddr3.

One other not, some companies will make a big deal about the core clock speed of a gpu, this isn't that important really. What generation chipset is present is important, but now how fast it goes. As far as speed, that's in the memory. There is also what is called "pixel pipes." But don't worry about that too much as the more $$$ = the more pipes.|||You will be able to play games, but not at their full potential. SO either go for 256 or 512. You wont need to upgarde again.|||it is depend on your games. but 256 mb is better|||The GPU (6600, 7900, 8800, etc) is actually more important than the amount of RAM. There are many 256 MB cards that will outperform some 512 MB cards for instance, simply because they have a much more advanced GPU. But in general with todays software, 128 MB cards are not very good.

Visit this site to get an idea of how a given card stacks up:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2…|||For new games and upcoming games, i say 512 MB is the minimum.|||it depends the game.its better to go for a 256Mb card coz most of the new games are need high capacities and get a directX 10 compatible one.|||Depends.. i got a 6600Gt, considered one of the best 128mb card. They are old but cheap, but not worth to get. This days 256 are cheap too, i seen a 512mb selling at $150+ on ebay. But if u want to get a good 128mb gfx card get 6600GT!|||Well it depends upon the games you're playing. Some games requires higher capacity (more on 3D games) some don't. But the higher the capacity of the video card the better the games, more satisfaction :) . If you're into 3D games well thats the minimum requirements but if you're into non-3D that would fit I think. Enjoy playing!!!|||256 is considered the bare minimum for games, even with 256, you would have to make serious compromizes. New vid cards are cheap now, get a mid priced direct x10 card
