I want to buy the sims 3 and I have a dell windows xp 2006 desktop pc

I have nVidia FX5200 128MB video card and I install call of duty 4, when I run the game it gave me the following error ((Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend)) please help me|||Call of duty requires a ShaderModel 3 (aka DX9.0C) capable graphic card.

Please read my entire question because alot of people do not help me with their answers because they dont read!

My ATI Radeon 9200 LE video card and its driver were installed automatically by vista even though the card is not certified for vista. But when I try to install the card on the other hard drive, Windows 7 does not recognize the card, and does not install any drivers for it. I was wondering if I could some how get the driver for this card and manually install it in windows 7. Is this possible? I just got a new Dell laptop, the Inspiron 1520. I am wondering if 128MB video card will be enough- it is the 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS. I have 3GB of RAM, Intel® Core 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) processor, and 160GB hard drive. Got a 15 inch widescreen. I'll be running Windows Vista Premium for basic tasks like lots of internet, word, excel, etc. No gaming at all. Sometimes some streaming video from the internet I like, but not a lot.

First of all, the 9250 competed with Nvidia's GeForce 3 cards. This was released at a time when the Radeon began to pick up more steam. The 9250 was more of a budget card, but the mx 4000 was even worse. It was released almost 2 years earlier. The term "mx" was to "GT" like Celeron is to Pentium.
No doubt that the 9250 is the better card of the two. However like someone else said, don't waste any money on either. There are a lot of good modern cards available for well under $100. Check this article guide for suggestions in each price range:

VIDEO CARD help, bought an nvidia en6600gt pcix16, keeps freezing my computer. is it on my end or is it card?

NO!|||you can get by with a 128 mb card as long as the ram on it is at least ddr3. If it is newer (7600+), chances are it is. If the ram is regular ddr, then that just makes it slower. See, 128mb ddr3 ram is about as good "game wise" as 256 ddr. Another thing to consider is memory bus bandwidth. Sometimes you can't find this spec on the box, but www.newegg.com usually has it there for you. Generally speaking, cheaper cards will use a 128-bit bus and pair it with 128mb ddr3. Mid-range cards might use a 256-bit bus which doubles the memory bandwidth (how much data the memory can handle/communicate at one time) Now, you may not want a 256mb or 512mb card that uses a 128-bit bus because you are not utilizing all of your memory. Just like you wouldn't want a 512-bit bus for only 128mb ddr3.
One other not, some companies will make a big deal about the core clock speed of a gpu, this isn't that important really. What generation chipset is present is important, but now how fast it goes. As far as speed, that's in the memory. There is also what is called "pixel pipes." But don't worry about that too much as the more $$$ = the more pipes.|||You will be able to play games, but not at their full potential. SO either go for 256 or 512. Basic iMac 20" w/2.0ghz and 128mb video card for games?
I'm trying to decide between the basic iMac that comes with 2.0ghz and a 128mb card, and the more expensive one with 2.4ghz and a 256mb card. I plan to install 4gb of RAM from a third-party. Will the weaker video card be able to handle upcoming games like Starcraft 2 with full resolution and the video settings at their best?|||there is no iMac that can handle any recent game at full resolution and video settings at their best.
Blizzard has always made their games compatible with Macs, and also with low graphics cards. so it will work, just not necessarily at full graphics.
the X2400XT is a very very low end card. for both nVidia and ATi, the rule of thumb is never buy anything thats got less than a 6 in the hundreds place. the X1600 Pro used in the 2 year old iMac is better than the X2400XT.

Which video card do i get?
i have a dell vostro 200, windows xp, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz, 1gb ram and 128mb video card.
i only have one video card and i want to add another screen so that it should be an extention to my screen that i have now. does it matter which video card i get or can i just use a "vga y"?|||Your current video card should have 2 video ports on the back. Just buy another monitor.

Because the video card on it is integrated onto the board. Meaning it is saudered on to the motherboard, so unless you purchase another board that has another video card. You are stuck with that one.|||Because it's a laptop...

Questions on video card/graphic card?
Recently i am looking at dell desktop and wanted to buy one but i am not sure whether i should get a 128mb video card or a 256mb video card. I am not a hardcore gamer but more like a hardcore music fanatic and occasionally, will watch movies both online and from dvd. Is it necessary for me to get a 256mb one instead of a 128mb? it should but it will depend on the chips set.
I had a 64MB PCI ATI radeon card running x86 windows Vista beta for a friend a while back.
so in short yes it should be fine.
however i'm using a 256MB ATI radeon GPU, 3GB RAM, AMD Sempron3400 CPU with 6 200GB seagate hard drives amongst a host of other accessories. and running the x64 verion of the beta and wow it is a lot better than xp performance wise in my case. for example just ideling in xp my system runns at around 80% of CPU performance, where as vista the ideling rate is down to under 50% on average. with the ram remaining at under 50% for most applications except when i run resource intensive programs such as the media centre program or the TV tuner card.
but all in all great.

I had a 64MB PCI ATI radeon card running x86 windows Vista beta for a friend a while back.
so in short yes it should be fine.
however i'm using a 256MB ATI radeon GPU, 3GB RAM, AMD Sempron3400 CPU with 6 200GB seagate hard drives amongst a host of other accessories. and running the x64 verion of the beta and wow it is a lot better than xp performance wise in my case. for example just ideling in xp my system runns at around 80% of CPU performance, where as vista the ideling rate is down to under 50% on average. with the ram remaining at under 50% for most applications except when i run resource intensive programs such as the media centre program or the TV tuner card.
but all in all great.

yes any vga monitor that can have a higher resolution than the original standard of television resolution would be hidef. at 640 480 , the 480 being the lines vertically. now most monitors were svga that could do this which became the standard. so even if the vertical lines are only increased to say 520 it would be considered HD, now in the tv world the first ones that did that were categorized as enhanced definition. nevertheless they were HD.

The 128MB card has the ability to do it, so you need to make sure your driver can tell it how. Older Nvidia drivers did not support the widescreen resolutions very well (1440x900 is a widescreen resolution) but newer drivers work better. Also, if for some reason the card does not recognize the new display's resolution, you may have to tweak the driver a bit by unchecking the option that shows only the modes the monitor will support and find the resolution, bit depth, and refresh rate that work best.|||I don't think it will support the monitors native resolution. Thats a card i want to get and am sure that i wont have trouble playing new games with decent frame rates.|||Many different cards have different VRAM sizes. But you're looking for an older 7600GS/GT.

to begin with there are not many video/graphic cards that come with only 128mb these days so 256mb would be the best option,and pixel and shader model 2.0 compliant cards are not that much cop aswell so we shall go with cards using the latest pixel and shader model 4.1
the first card i shall recommend is the excellent EVGA GeForce GTS250 SC 1GB ( http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d… ) and allthough this is quite expensive this will run the sims at maximum detail and the resolution as high as you can set it

128mb is on the small side nowadays. I have 512mb and that's a little more excessive. Get a 256mb graphics card. That might do it for you but that's probably not the problem. Your webcam may seem gritty and grainy on your computer because the webcam itself is not very good. Try a newer logitech. The logitech webcams are very good.|||Well you got somewhat ahead of yourself. It is not so much the video card that is the problem. Your webcam needs updated. Buying one that costs over $50 is going to give you a nice quality, not saying the more you pay is better. Try a 1.3megapixel or higher. :)

What are the limitations with running Windows Vista with a 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS graphics card?
I'm asking this question because I'm planning to buy a Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop and the best video card available for it is the 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS. However, Windows Vista best operates on a video card with at least 256MB of memory from what I understand.

I have a geforce fx 5200 128mb video card in my msi-ms7211 model pc and 2nd tv is fuzzy as heck?
My pc is a pc3200 msi- ms-7200 with the geforce fx5200 video card and i've tried buying a 4-pin cord for the video out on the card and i ran the rca jacks on the other end to my tv and the screen is really, really bad, you can tell there is the same picture that's on the desktop, but it looks very scrambly and bad, i tried everything. i even installed the drivers from the msi and nvidia websites, nothing is working? i set the tv as dual view and as clone. i right click on my desktop and go to settings and switched resolutions and hertz? i even checked the box extend my windows desktop into this monitor? i hope it's something small? nobody has helped me yet on other site fixes.|||There are some things that would likely make your TV/monitor fuzzy...

Hi! I am having this dilema with this PC I built about 2 years ago.
It seems that it can't handle newer games like GT-R or The Sims 2, even though my PC exceeds the system requirements on most of my games (most demanding game I have requires only a 1.0GHz system with 256MB Ram and 128MB video card). The games have that occasional 'hiccup' while playing, and I see my hard drive working longer than usual. The worst is when I quit the games. It takes almost a full minute to exit the game, and again, I see the hard drive working overtime. :-)
My PC is built on an Asus A7V8X-X motherboard, AMD Athlon XP2800 (2.0 GHz), 512MB DDR PC3200 RAM, and ATI Radeon 9600 AGP video card with 128MB.

when EA announces the minimum requirements that means the PC will just RUN the game and you wont be able to actually Play the Game on 1 Frame per second
1 FPS means that when a character in game is going from kitchen to a room you have to wait for your PC (minimum requirements) something like 5 min to actually see the character reach the room
you need a new PC if you want to play that game
and about getting just a new VGA
its a dead end we need to know your mother board info(Name and product number will do example{ASUS P5Q}) to see if you can update it or not and im sure it wont support new stuff cuz its on SIS VGA and even if your motherboard has a slot for new VGA it should be AGP not PCI express and you wont be able to get a AGP VGA now days

i use the pc for gaming and video editing. either upgrade ram to 1gb or the video card to 256. also please comment if i do not need to upgrade my system as it is.|||If you ar really looking forward for video editing and gaming it is a good idea to upgrade your system. Video editing takes a lot of cpu, ram and disk space.
I believe that you need to upgrade your RAM first. All new applications require more RAM. Infact you will see a difference in speed once you upgrade your RAM.
Video RAM is actually important as you do lot of gaming. To get a real smooth video effect it is good to have a good video card with more Video Ram.
Now with video editing, you will find that 40 GB Hard disk is not enough. Video editing demands more disk space, as mostly you will transfer video to your hard disk before editing it.

Would it be better to have a 128mb video card or 256 integrated?
I have a Dual Core 1.6ghz desktop with 4 gigs of ram in it, but I can't seem to really play any games. Even older ones. I'm guessing it's due to an integrated graphics card, but my question is this. Are there any tweaks for my nvidia geforce FX5200 (128mb) video card?
Hey guys, now that I know that my card is weak, would you give me some advices on how can I tweak my card? Please don't mention coolbits. I've tested it a lot of times but my pc hangs on startup. Computer playing games video card?
my computer is oldish. i was thinking of up grading it but i'm not sure the games will work. i was thinking even though my procesor is slower than the newer games say is required, if i got alot of ram and a huge video card would it play anyways with slow load times? like lets say for example a game says 3 gh proccesor is required with 128mb video card and 512mb. but my computer is 2.4gh proccesor but i have a 1gig video card and two gigs of ram|||for the processor, don't worry about it. if you have a 2.4ghz you're fine. i have a 1.7ghz and playing crysis on lowest. now abotu the ram. upgrade to a minimum of 2gig.
the video card is a little complicated. first, cards have bus widths. 128 bit width, only use up to 256mb video ram. 256bit, 512 ram.
i would recommend dumping almost all your money into a video card and spend 10 bucks to upgrade a gig more ram.

Video card help please for gaming?
the computer im getting has a 128mb video card and the game i want to play needs 128mb i was wondering if thats fine or should i upgrade? Other info is (if needed)

Is a 430Watt power supply sufficient to handle 2 dvd burners, a 128mb video card, and one hard drive?
What if the video card was 256mbs with everything else remaining the same? Would I need a more a powerful power supply then?
If so, how much power would be sufficient then (2 dvd burners, a 256mb video card, and one hard drive)?|||Its not the wattage you need to worry about. I recently bought a new motherboard and processor. 15 mins into the initial run the screen went black..I looked over just in time to see a flash from my power supply!!! Newegg has a tech support FAQ that set me straight. Although Wattage output is good the proper Amperage is more important. A modern setup requires about 18 to 25 amps. More if you have cutting edge stuff. If your power supply came with the case I suggest you buy new one. Unless you like fireworks in your computer!!|||Probably.
Until my motherboard started dying I had a 256 MB video card, DVD burner, CD-ROM, floppy drive, and 4 hard drives (2 SATA, 2 IDE) running on a comprable power supply.|||Definitely im runnin 2 hard drives 1 DVD burner and a 1288MB video card on a 300W power supply with no problems.|||Here's what I can tell you. I have an Emachines Desktop running an add-on 256mb Nvidea graphics, 2 Hdd's, and 2 DVD-writers. I run a 425 watt UPS, and the monitor tells me that at full load I am only using 18 to 22 percent loading. That works out to about 85 watts...

Looking for a new laptop, mainly for games. Price range is up to probably £400. Needs a 128mb vid card and atleast 2ghz processor. Can anybody recommend one?|||Most laptops these days come with a 250mb graphic card .

I guess u are looking on the back of a box of a game. and it says 128mb graphic card. this is the minimum required the more the better it is.

I have a128MB video card. Only 16MB are showing?
Help! I have 128 MB ATI Rage Video card. I am trying to install the Digital Arts and Crafts Studio and it's saying that I don't have enough video memory installed. It needs at least 64MB. The drivers are installed correctly for the 128MB Video Card and when I do the DirectX diagnostics, it is still saying only 16MB. I have tried everything. What do I do?|||that's an old card so it might not be supported by that newer program. Are you sure it is 128mb though b/c I've heard of the 128ATI Rage card and I'm thinking it was only 16mb ram, 128 might just be part of the name...
Any good games for a 128Mb video card?
The GPU makes more difference than the RAM onboard so WHAT kind of card is it? And what do you classify as a good game? It will run Doom just fine if that's what you mean.|||haha i was going to say Doom as well. The .WAD files are all over the internet, so get Doomsday and run it in 3d. it's a great game.|||Hmm.. Well i dont know much but there are the ones i know that should work: totaloverdose, tomb raider anniversary, prince of persia the two thrones, warcraft, nfs most wanted, nfs carbon, halo, devil may cry 4, Gta san andres, infernal, battle field 2142 etc. But dont expect high res or something like that.
How to Install Geforce MX4000v 128MB video card properly?
Good Day Guys! I was wondering if anyone of you here knows or give me some instructions/step by step procedure on how to properly install my video card Geforce Mx4000v 128MB? waiting for your reply guys, thank you and more power!|||It's a very straightforward process.
1. Open the computer case.
2. Remove the existing video card by unscrewing the single screw holding it in place and pulling it out of the slot.
3. Place new video card into slot and replace screw holding it in place.
4. Close computer case.
5. Boot up windows.
6. Install latest detonator drivers from nvidia.com
If you're using on-board video, often the machine will automatically disable the video, especially if your monitor is only plugged into the Geforce.
